Grantee organisations supported by Fondo de Mujeres del Sur, from different Latin American countries, participated in the Forum sessions. Some members of the FMS Executive Team accompanied them, and we took advantage of the opportunity to meet up and exchange stories, projects and strategies.
From March 22 to 24, the United Nations Water Conference was held in New York (United States). Almost 50 years after the first conference, representatives of the States and civil society met again with a central focus: how to generate actions to care for water in the face of an unprecedented climate crisis. Leading from the South (LFS) was present at CSW67 (the sixty-seventh session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women) with the panel “The Power and Politics of Leading from the South”, which was part of the events organised in parralel to the UN meeting.
The highlight of the year at Fondo de Mujeres del Sur (FMS) was our anniversary. We celebrated a decade and a half of work reinforcing feminisms in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
At the end of 2021, Fondo de Mujeres del Sur (FMS), in alliance with the Global Fund for Women (GFW), organised a survey of organisations from Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

On Friday, September 2, we gathered in Montevideo, Uruguay, for our first fifteen-year anniversary celebration. On September 23 we celebrated in Asunción, Paraguay, and on October 21 in Córdoba, Argentina.
More than 150 activists from all over the country came together with part of the FMS Board of Directors and Executive Team for two days in the mountains around Córdoba. Implemented in partnership with Fondo Alquimia (Chile), the programme seeks to provide financial grants and technical and political support to grassroots and intermediate sized organisations in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay that work on actions to further economic justice for diverse women, identities and sexualities.
The 66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the largest United Nations (UN) meeting on gender equality, is taking place from 14 to 22 March.
