We Lead, We Exchange: A Year of Meetings and Exchanges between the Leaders of Leading from the South

The Leading from the South (LFS) programme was born from the need to finance and support activism for women's rights in the South Global for a period of four years (2017-2020). At the beginning of this journey we have never even imagined the enormous power that would be woven in this time.

34 organisations were selected during the first call, which are carrying out their projects and have already begun to report the actions they have been carrying out in each of their places. The results are truly wonderful!

We were also able to share this process very closely through the Learning, Monitoring and Evaluation visits (A,M & E that we have begun to carry out earlier this year.) Starting in January, we visited grassroots organisations that are carrying out important transformations in their territories: Women & Women Association, National Association of Rural and Indigenous Women - Anamuri (Chile), Neges Kreyol (Haiti), Emude (Dominican Republic), Apomuh (Honduras), Las Ramonas (Paraguay), Magdalenas Puerto Madryn (Argentina), Espacio Encuentro de Mujeres (Panama), Fetradomov (Nicaragua), Coletivo Nega (Brazil), Rede Mulheres Negras do Paraná (Brazil), Juanita Moro Organisation (Argentina), Grupo por la Humanización del nacimiento de Minas (Uruguay) and Asociación AMA (Guatemala).

On the other hand, to continue mobilizing actions through LFS and strengthen learning processes, we recently launched the "We Learn, We Exchange" Interchange Program, which will allow our partners to share experiences and knowledge to strengthen their collective processes and thus enhance their impact through LFS.

Through this new Programme, the FMS aims to strengthen the capacities and strengthen ties between the organisations that integrate Leading from the South in Latin America and the Caribbean, in order to promote the exchange of experiences, learning and strategies, as well as also encourage the various partner organisations to participate and become involved in actions that organisations in other territories are executing. These exchanges are already beginning to materialize!

In August, we will also be holding the 2nd Regional Meeting of Copart Organisations of Latin America and the Caribbean of Leading from the South "Creating Collectively from Interculturality". In that context, we will meet again on August 1st and 2nd in Cartagena, Colombia, where the Mamakümba partners will welcome us, who have taken on the challenge of hosting us and organising this meeting with FMS.

On the other hand, we are also ready to launch a second call for proposals so that LFS continues to grow and support more women organized in the region.
